New-home construction tumbled 11 percent in March, according to government data released yesterday, dashing hopes that the troubled housing market had begun to improve. The Orlando area's huge backlog of existing homes for sale shrank to a 26-month low last month as local Realtors sold 48 percent more houses and condominiums than they did a year ago. The Twin Cities housing market continues to show signs of burning through the huge inventory of foreclosed homes for sale. Realtors say the way to make a home you're trying to sell is to stage it with high-end furnishings to make it more appealing.
